ANGELIC SLEIGH RIDE

Gliding across the snow covered fields, I hear the sleigh bells penetrating through the crisp cold wind.  The one horse sleigh gently guided by the chestnut mare.

Miss Sarah was majestic in her brown fur hat surrounding
her porcelain face with wisps of golden hair peeking through.
Black velvet cape trimmed in fur emphasized the beauty of her red tinged cheeks and angelic blue eyes.

She pulled back on the reins and softly commanded a “Whoa”!
Adjusting the wool blanket and putting her hands in the fur muff,
she whispered to the mare, “It’s time to rest, so please try to be very still”.

She wanted to savor the innocent beauty of silence, the purity of white covered fields and the exhilarating cold. It seemed to cleanse her soul and body - -  - bringing a hidden pleasure of the simple beauty that surrounded her.

AUTUMN LAWS

It is time for the grass to sleep
To be covered by sulking leaves
The trees must strip and expose their bones
and fight with the gutsy winds
The crickets and bees return to the earth
and dream of Spring to come
                              And woolen scarf’s wait impatiently
                                      to cover frosty cheeks
